The footy obsessed, 'Norf London' geezers and park-run craft coffee chasers. The Saturday morning market goers and art on the heath (with bubbles) kind of people. The free-wheeling lycra clad cyclists, and music lovers heading home from the Roundhouse after an all nighter. The bootcamp bunnies on the hill at sunrise and the popping to Paris fashionistas.

Drawing on in-depth market research in the region and adapted to how today’s traveller integrates well-being into their lifestyle, the work reimagines wellness to be fulfilling, inclusive, and effortlessly personal. From in-room wellness zones and craveable food and drink, to state-of-the-art fitness, recreation, and vibrant social spaces we built on the foundations of the global design approach, refining it to resonate with a more discerning, lifestyle-led guest. mapped out how wellness can show up more naturally across the guest journey – from the first touchpoint to the final wind-down. 

 

This holistic, lifestyle-led approach inspired thoughtfully designed spaces that could evolve with guests’ needs across the day to balance productivity, relaxation, and connection. From quieter pockets of calm to uplifting and energising spaces, we reimagined design adjacencies and public space zoning, design signatures and interior guidance to set a distinct design direction that can effortlessly scale across the region whilst adapting to the unique qualities of each location.

Inspired by biophillic design we took inspiration from the movement and structures found in nature, to inform choices around colour and material, shape and styling. We infused a sense of texture and tactility to bring a deeper sense of comfort and connection to the culture in the region, whilst playful sculptural statements infuse movement and narrative to create uplifting moments across the guest journey.

 

Through a thoughtful understanding of local lifestyle behaviours in the region and layering elevated aesthetics in to the design toolkit, we helped set a new benchmark for the brand: one that adapts effortlessly across urban and resort locations connecting the brand to both culture and community, whilst staying true to the global ethos.

To bring the vision to life, we visualised each area of the hotel to ground the design thinking into tangible concepts that could guide and inspire the design of future properties. 

 

Social areas that flow seamlessly between connection and calm to create spaces to work, relax, or reset. Restaurant and bars designed to bring the hotel to life with nutritious and indulgent options that offer the perfect place for a morning pick me up, afternoon cooler or long lunch. A high-performance Athletic Studio with zones for strength, cardio, and recovery, and a Soulful Studio and Spa designed to relax and invigorate guests in mindful movement and rejuvenating rituals.

Retreating from the lobby we designed each guest room with a signature wellness zone – offering a choice between in-room fitness gear or calming corners for those looking to unwind. From brand interpretation to spatial layouts, tech-enabled amenities to styling cues, our work considered both the functional and emotional needs of today’s traveller – all the while remaining sympathetic to cultural and market-specific nuances.

Launched in the US in 2012, EVEN Hotels was built around a simple idea: to put wellness within reach of guests whilst travelling. Initially focused on active wellness, the brand’s recent evolution brings a more holistic promise – one that flexes around how people actually live, rest and travel, to offer lifestyle-led stays that seamlessly balance productivity, relaxation and connection.

 

With over 40 hotels open in the US and China, and more in the pipeline, AboundStudio were engaged to shape an interior design guide and blueprint for EVEN Hotels in the Middle East. In a region known for its bold vision and unique lifestyle, this was an opportunity to affirm an elevated, premium position and distinct design concept, whilst staying true to the brands global outlook and story. 

 

The result, is a new kind of experience for EVEN Hotels in the Middle East. Designed for travellers who want to live a full and rewarding life, the work positions the brand as a lifestyle destination offering a harmonious blend of adaptive spaces inspired by biophilic design for guests to energise, unwind, or reset.
